Just too many things to do and nowhere near enough time. But here’s something. Was doing somethings with Dreamweaver 5.5 using the data bindings. I’ve done this many times before but just not on a Hostgator site. Went through the normal steps and it didn’t work. Did a search and didn’t find the answer anywhere quickly and in one piece so I thought I’d put it here for other to find.

I’m setting up a mysql database connection in Dreamweaver CS5.5. Here’s the settings that worked for me:

In the MYSQL Connection:

Mysql Server: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx – the ip address of your hostgator mysql connection
Username: youraccount_yourMysqlUser
password; xxxxxxxx
Database: youraccount_yourdatabasename

The above is what I tried first – but it didn’t work. Then I did some searching and found these two references and links:

<a href=”http://www.highdots.com/forums/macromedia-dreamweaver/_mmserverscripts-mmhttpdb-php-162885.html”>http://www.highdots.com/forums/macromedia-dreamweaver/_mmserverscripts-mmhttpdb-php-162885.html</a>

Using this information I made a testing server entry in DW that had as the web url my Hostgator url:

http://skts.hostgator.zaks.com

And then the database binding started to work.  Go figure. I’m not asking why. It just does.

P.S. I highly recommend Hostgator, the live chat is very helpful, I much prefer that over sending an email and hoping you hear from someone soon.
